PARAMUS, N.J. – The awaited return of Mathieu Gouverneur and Malik Malik to the back line helped steady things for Hakoah who narrowly dropped their fourth match of the season at R.D. Benders in Paramus. Hakoah tried to control the pace in the first half. Against the run of play, a bending ball played over the back was misjudged by right back, Ron Glickman. With his attacker through on goal, Aleksey Nazarov rushed to cut off the angle but it the well placed shot went into the back of the net.

Midfield combinations between Harel Nahar and Sjur Gundersen gave the Benders midfield all kinds of trouble. Saeed Baba was a constant nuissance up front and suffered a lot of fouls to set up Hakoah in good locations for free kicks. With the tide shifting Hakoah's way, the first half came to a close and the boys regrouped.

The start of the second half saw a resurgence for Hakoah. The  battle and combinations
between Nahar and Gundersen resulted in a ball being dropped back to Eyal Yechezkell who
bent the ball to the far post past the goalkeeper. With the game level, both sides tried to push forward. Baba's footwork gave Benders all kinds of trouble as Asayag and Nahar kept pushing forward. It was only a matter of time until Michel Asayag got his team leading third goal of the season. With the way things looked, Hakoah was on its way to victory.

A free kick in the Hakoah end was misjudged by young 'keeper Jared Hoch, who had come in at the half for Nazarov. With the wind carrying it in, it cooly went into the far post as the boys could do nothing but watch. Almost toward stoppage time and R.D. Benders took advantage of a corner kick. The ball escaped Hoch's hands and trickled down the back of a Benders player and into the net. Next week the boys face a daunting task in the NJSL Cup where they have been drawn against Ramapo F.C. of the highest tier of the NJSL.
