FAIRFIELD, N.J. –
It takes some dedication to make a 7:30 am kickoff on a chilly autumn Sunday in Fairfield, NJ, but Hakoah's players turned out in force for the away match against Prestige International. The highly motivated visitors dominated possession from the opening whistle and pressured the home side relentlessly.

Hakoah did not need to wait long for the payoff. In the 5th minute, in-form striker Michel Asayag volleyed home a delicately chipped cross from Saeed Sulemana-Baba and Hakoah was off to the races. Seven minutes later, Phil Robinson rose to head a cross from Omry Lifschitz over the outstretched arms of the Prestige keeper and into the upper left corner of the goal.

While the majority of the early chances came from attacks down the wing, Hakoah's high pressure began causing trouble in the middle of the field, and in the 22nd minute, midfielder Sjur Gundersen pounced on a loose ball and powered home his first goal in a Hakoah shirt to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. Four minutes later, Baba finished off a nice 1-2 combination with Harel Nahar to extend the lead, and in the 30th minute, he added another after Lifshitz cut in from the wing and fed him in front of goal.

Gundersen struck again in the 40th minute, collecting a pass from Ophir Singal and shooting past the beleaguered Prestige netminder to make it 6-0. Nahar and Baba combined again in the 41st, as the captain split the defense with a nice pass and Baba showed his quality by rounding the keeper and getting by a defender who had tracked back before tapping it in for a 7-0 lead. With halftime fast approaching, midfielder German Dubovis scored his second goal from the season, bundling home a long Singal cross to the back post.

After the first half scoring explosion, Hakoah made a number of substitutions and played the second half at a more relaxed pace. Still, chances abounded. Highlights included a delightful chip from Baba that beat the keeper from 40 yards and a spectacular shot from distance by Hakoah player of the week Omry Lifshitz, who finished the day with a goal and five assists. The only blemish on the day for Hakoah came from a miscommunication in the back which allowed the home team to salvage a goal on the day and kept the otherwise excellent Hakoah backline from registering its first clean sheet of the season.
